BCPS Newsletter Issue 1 Summer Term 2022

22 APR, 2022
Dear Parents, Families and Friends of BCPS,
Another term begins, and brings with it plenty of sunshine; what a lightness it brings to everyone’s mood! The Easter holidays gave me a chance to pause and reflect further on what a magnificent Spring term we had enjoyed. When I look back now at what tremendous successes it held, I can be nothing but immensely proud!
All our Year 6 exam students achieved maximum success, and each gained entry to their first choice school. Several of our children sat multiple exams for multiple schools and gained entry to them all! Bursaries and scholarships were won too! Wow!!! I shout our success from the rooftops and hope all will hear!
In terms of the growth of our school, too, there is wonderful news! We have been thrilled to welcome eight new pupils to our numbers since the start of 2022, and I would like to make a special reference of welcome here to Jessica, Abdul-Raafay, Haajrah, Laila and Mujtaba, who joined our Nursery class only this week! I know you will be so utterly happy here at BCPS! A huge welcome to you, children, and of course, to your families too!
Our Open Day takes place on Saturday 7th May (10.00am – 4.00pm). Please share this information amongst your friends and families and encourage them to come along to see our fabulous little school and all that it has to offer! We have so very much to be proud of! I know that you will all speak so highly of the most wonderful opportunities which an education here provides, and who better to sing our praises than the people who know us best – our family!
As you know, I have notched up thirty years teaching here and my heart and soul belong to this most special of schools, which has given so many the best start in life, including me! It deserves to thrive as it does. Please help us to spread the word, as we continue to open hearts and minds!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
Best wishes! As always, Miss Farrow

FAITH CORNER
2nd Sunday of Easter
(John 20: 19-31)
REFLECTION
PEACE!
Thomas just can’t believe his friends’ tale. He hadn’t been there when Jesus came into the locked room and gave his friends the gift of peace. Thomas saw Jesus die and there is no way he is going to believe Jesus is risen unless he has proof. Eight days later, Thomas is there when Jesus comes again. “Peace be with you,” Jesus says and he offers Thomas his hands and his side to touch. Now Thomas believes Jesus really has risen!

DID YOU KNOW?
We are now in the season of Easter. Easter in the church lasts for fifty days until Pentecost. It is the longest special liturgical season because Jesus’ resurrection is so important.
PRAYER
Dear Jesus, you knew what Thomas needed and you helped him to believe. Thank you for being my friend and for knowing what I need. Help me to be a good friend to others, sharing your peace. Amen.
ACTION
Do a secret good deed for a friend this week – help them with a job or leave a card.

WHERE IN THE WORLD ARE WE?
The children in Reception have had a wonderful first week back. They have been learning all about where we live! They began by looking at our continent, Europe, and used a globe to find lots of different countries in Europe, our neighbours! Putting their new knowledge to the test, the children were challenged to label as many countries as possible on a map of the continent. with the help of an atlas and their trusty globe!
A STROLL IN THE SUNSHINE!
Our ‘Family Friday’ events for the Summer Term got underway today with an outing for our enthusiastic Walking Club! Members walked and talked their way around a picturesque route, basking in the welcome sunshine which we have been enjoying of late. Please make a note of the upcoming ‘Family Friday’ sessions and do join us for some, indeed all of them!
Next week we have our first Book Club of the term. Please come along for what promises to be a fabulous discussion about our latest read, ’Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine’, which has been so enjoyed by everyone! Do not be put off if you haven’t read the novel – there will be plenty of inclusive chat and a good cup of coffee, and our next read will be announced too!

NEWS FOR OUR BOOKWORMS!
Our new ’Book lub’ title is…
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine
by Gail Honeyman!
No one’s ever told Eleanor that life should be better than fine…
Meet Eleanor Oliphant: she struggles with appropriate social skills and tends to say exactly what she’s thinking. Nothing is missing in her carefully timetabled life of avoiding unnecessary human contact, where weekends are punctuated by frozen pizza, vodka, and phone chats with Mummy.
But everything changes when Eleanor meets Raymond, the bumbling and deeply unhygienic IT guy from her office. When she and Raymond together save Sammy, an elderly gentleman who has fallen, the three rescue one another from the lives of isolation that they had been living. Ultimately, it is Raymond’s big heart that will help Eleanor find the way to repair her own profoundly damaged one. If she does, she’ll learn that she, too, is capable of finding friendship—and even love—after all.
Smart, warm, uplifting, Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine is the story of an out-of-the-ordinary heroine whose deadpan weirdness and unconscious wit make for an irresistible journey as she realizes. . .
the only way to survive is to open your heart.
DELVE IN – DIGEST – DISCUSS!
