BCPS Newsletter Issue 11 Spring Term

2 April, 2021

Dear Parents, Families and Friends of BCPS,

It is with the greatest of pleasure that I write this end of term letter to you. What a delight it is for me to be able to wrap up such a difficult term by commending each and every one of your children on, quite simply, a star performance. What a credit they have proved to be, once again, to you and to BCPS and I am immeasurably proud of them all.

Our precious children continue to fly in the face of adversity, and exude courage, enthusiasm, strength and resilience in the most unusual of times. They are indeed an example to us all, and a clear reminder of the power of the human spirit to survive and thrive, whatever it is asked to weather! The children continue to be alert and vigilant to all our restrictions, but wholly defiant in their refusal to allow them to prevent their love of learning or of each other. Their positive attitude and energy is a joy to behold, and truly infectious!

I know I speak for all the staff in saying that we all look forward in great anticipation to the months ahead in school. We have so much to look forward to as the Summer approaches, including First Holy Communion celebrations, the most blessed and special occasions, which, of course, we look forward to with huge excitement.. It remains a privilege to spend these unprecedented days in your children’s company. I know I have said this before, but it is most certainly worth of repeating. Providing for their education, inside and outside the classroom, is quite simply, an honour.

We move forward to the Summer Term, then, staff and children alike, determined, eager to teach and to learn and most importantly, full of hope for a brighter future.
As we look ahead, I would like to assure you of, what I trust you are already know, our continued dedication to you and your children.

I wish you all many blessings.  May this Easter season be a time of deep trust in the sureness of the Lord’s love and goodness.

Meanwhile, we remain true to what has become our mantra, and stay ‘together, whilst apart’.  Our team is a strong one, and it is a pleasure to work for and with you!

As always,
With fondest regards, Miss Farrow

Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord
(John 20:1-9)

It is still dark when Mary of Magdala comes to Jesus’ tomb. In John’s Gospel “darkness” is more than just the absence of light. The disciples are still certain that Jesus has died and that all hope is gone. When Mary finds the tombstone moved, she runs to the disciples in confusion. Peter and another disciple race back to the tomb to see what has happened. Jesus’ body has gone. It is only when they fully enter the tomb that everything becomes clear to the disciples and they “see” the truth: Jesus has risen from the dead!

The paschal candle is lit for the first time this year at the Easter Vigil. “Paschal” means “Easter”. This large wax candle is a symbol which tells us that Jesus Christ is the light of the world. Everyone who is baptised this year in your parish will be given a baptismal candle lit from this paschal candle.

Thank you, Jesus, for all the wonderful things in the world which make us happy. Thank you for the best thing of all: that you are alive in our hearts. Amen.

Enjoy eating any Easter eggs you have been given.

Kindness Cup

The Kindness Cup this week is awarded to Rafi, for his inordinate kindness in passing over a second prize which he won during our ‘Virtual’ Easter Bingo Evening, to allow someone else to win a prize too. What a role model, young man—exemplary BCPS behaviour!

Easter Fun in the Sun!

The children all enjoyed a week of Easter fun as they took part in a whole variety of competitions organised by the School Council. We took immediate advantage of the sun which blessed us all this week. Congratulations to Tafara who guessed how many mini eggs were contained in our delicious jar, to Aanya, who correctly guessed that our Easter Bunny was called Magnolia, and to James and Iyanu, who won the raffle prizes! Thank you, once again to our wonderful staff, who donated prizes, and to our fabulous School Council, who organised the events!
