16 July, 2021
Dear Parents, Families and Friends of BCPS,
Well, we made it to the end of the last whole week of the academic year, and what a week it has been! On Sunday. Our Sacramental Programme children shone like heavenly stars as they made their First Holy Communions. They all looked truly scrumptious and did us all so proud as they received the Holy Eucharist with grace and quiet confidence in front of the congregation gathered to celebrate at St. Marie’s Church in Bury. Following mass, we further marked the special occasion at a Reception back at school. Even the weather was kind to us—a blessed day!
Over the course of this week, our Year 6 leavers began to prepare to say farewell to us, as they enjoyed the first of their ’leavers’ events’,,, Movie Monday, Takeaway Tuesday and a ‘Fun but Formal’ luncheon on Thursday. They look forward to their Speech Day on Saturday afternoon—may the sun shine!
Looking forward to next week and our last couple of days together before the holidays, I am delighted to be able to open our gates and invite you into the school playground on Monday afternoon (morning drop off arrangements on Monday and Tuesday will remain unaltered, as will pick up arrangements for Tuesday at 12 noon).
Please, consider yourself cordially invited to come and share a cup of tea with us from 3pm on Monday 19th July, along with a good old chat!
(please continue to be cognisant of social distancing, under our current circumstances in the North West)
A word to the wise—bring your purses; there just might be an ice cream van in our playground!
Have a wonderful weekend!
We remain ‘Together Whilst Apart’!
As always, Miss Farrow

TODAY’S THE DAY THE TEDDY BEARS HAVE THEIR PICNIC!
This week in EYFS, Nursery and Reception children enjoyed a Teddy Bears’ Picnic. Each of the children brought a teddy of their choice to join them in school for the day.
We had lots of fun in the glorious sunshine, playing games, eating teddy snacks and dancing to music.
It was a brilliant way to wrap up our ‘Traditional Tales’ topic! It has been such a fun last term!

WE NEED REST!
Jesus’ friends have been working incredibly hard. They have been kept so busy they haven’t even had time to eat. Jesus knows they need a rest so he takes his disciples away in a boat to a quiet place. The crowds see where they are heading, though, and run to get there first. It isn’t a quiet place anymore! Jesus loves these people very much and sees that they are like lost sheep without a shepherd. Instead of resting, Jesus spends time teaching the people and his presence brings them peace.
DID YOU KNOW?
Thursday 12 July is the feast day of St. Mary Magdalene. She was a friend of Jesus throughout his ministry and was the first person Jesus chose to appear to after his resurrection. St. Thomas Aquinus called her “apostle to the apostles”.
Thank you, Jesus, for my busy life. Help me to remember that helping other people is one of the best ways to be busy. Keep me safe over the holiday and help me to enjoy my rest too. Amen.
Enjoy your summer break – and keep safe!
The Kindness Cup this week is awarded to Khadijah and Eva and their families, for donating some fabulous books for our beloved library!
Well done to all our end of year certificate winners!
