A typical day at Bury Catholic Prep School is fun-filled and action-packed and involves a multitude of activities to challenge and excite each child’s unique imagination. Commencing with Form Time where teacher-led discussions around current affairs or topics of the day may be discussed followed by prayer time.
Morning lessons last approximately an hour and typically focus on maths and english grammar, reading and writing as well as debates. There is a short break in between lessons where the children are encouraged to get some fresh air and have a healthy snack.
Lunch break is a little over an hour and we find children often rushing to finish their lunch at the prospect of outside play! At BCPS you’ll find children young and senior mixing and playing together. Our strong buddying system ensures that from day one every child is known by name and face to children from other classes. The long lunch break allows children to engage in teacher/senior-led clubs such as lego club or origami to name a couple, as well as sporting activities such as football.
Afternoon lessons run until 3.30pm and dependent on the day of the week include Science, Robotics, History, Geography (Topic-based), languages; French along with a choice of Spanish/Arabic/Mandarin. Children typically have one Music lesson per week, as well as one Art lesson. PE lessons feature on two afternoons per week and depending on the time of year, these include; swimming, ball skills, netball, basketball, benchball, dodgeball, rounders, cross-country among others.
